Outside of my family, most people are probably unaware that I am only two generations removed from the practice of arranged marriage. My paternal grandparents were brought together by my grandmother’s eldest brother after their parents had died in a pandemic in Cyprus.

Within the Christian context, marriages are meant to point to and glorify God. A Christian couple who stays together through thick and thin is meant to point to a great, loving God who is totally committed to his people. A Christian couple who is gracious and hospitable to both neighbour and stranger is meant to glorify a God who is gracious and hospitable with us.
I encourage you to see a therapist. Do not be afraid to talk through your pain. Believe the comforting presence of God can and will help you move forward as you honestly open your heart and seek healing and health for yourself and eventually for your marriage.
