For the kids
A story about a duckling.

Once upon a time, back in the days of St. Arthur of Smithers, a class of very, very young scholars decided to put some duck eggs in an incubator. When the days were accomplished when the shells should be delivered of the ducklings, alas, two eggs did not hatch.
Three days later, the scholars consigned the eggs to the dumpster, for “behold,” they said, “soon there will be a stench.” When Saint Martin and Saint Charlotte later went out to dump the cleansings from the house of learning, they did hear a peep.
Looking into the dumpster they beheld a duckling, as one untimely born. Not knowing the parents of the duckling, they decided to name him Lazarus. And he grew and prospered, but did not do well at math, so he retired to the wilderness.
This story took place at Bulkley Valley Christian School in Smithers, B.C. St. Arthur is Art Haverhals, master teacher, now living in Ottawa. Saints Charlotte and Martin Apperloo, still living in Smithers, were janitors at the school.
