Bill Los does wood turning on a lathe. This is an oil lamp he made from maple and Jatoba wood. He drilled a deep hole in the top for a glass insert (from Lee Valley) that holds the oil and a wick.

Despite failing eyesight, 91-year-old Annie Siebring continues to crochet table runners for each of her 45 grandchildren. She raised 11 children, sewing their clothes, knitting sweaters, toques and mittens and canning endless amounts of food. Over the last 10 years, she has crocheted well over 200 pairs of baby booties for grandchildren and now great-grandchildren. Her love for making handcrafted items from baby booties to wild blackberry jam has been passed on to all of her children.

Heidi Blokland’s hobby is pottery, which she does in a little studio out in a shed. This lovely nativity set has 15 pieces, from shepherds to angels to little Baby Jesus.

Irene Bakker’s mom took a wool blanket to Canada in the 1950s – it fit a small double-sized bed, but not the queen size beds we have, she says. So Irene designed and made a quilted border for the blanket; the blended item now fits a generous queen size bed and is “back to being what it was meant to be!”
