Birds on a wire

Look at this branch they made for us.
So what if they forgot the leaves?
We can always build a nest somewhere else.
You have to love the fact
that it joins one tree to the next,
and that it lies perfectly straight.
They always seem to be trying
to improve on what God provided us.
At least it’s easier to feel the sun,
and nothing gets in the breeze’s way.
Let’s sit here for a little while longer.
It would be almost impolite not to.
