A Crucible to Call Our Own

Today marks the 75th anniversary of Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s martyrdom. The crucible in which Bonhoeffer lived and died – Nazi Germany, the Holocaust, and World War II – has been seen, up until now, as the greatest existential threat humanity has faced in modern times. Now, with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have entered into another global existential crisis of historic proportions, causing widespread panic, death and economic collapse. A crucible to call our own.
