Partners Worldwide Canada hired Thanh Campbell as New Director

A ministry that fights poverty through business partnerships.

Thanh Campbell, well known as Orphan 32, is the new Director of Partners Worldwide Canada (PW).

PW’s goal says, “800 million people still live in extreme poverty. Our goal is to create a world without poverty where all can flourish as God intended.” Their approach is to fight poverty through business, “in partnership with local leaders, community institutions, business professionals, volunteers and you.”

Campbell said he likes to sum up what PW does by saying, “Business people helping business people eradicate poverty through redemptive business.”

Campbell is an author and speaker who has spent years sharing his story about how he was two years old when he was taken by mistake from Vietnam, and came to Canada with 56 other orphans as part of the last flight from Saigon in 1975.

“I leverage my story of where I came from, and the context I came out of as why I help people around the world. I was one of those babies living in poverty conditions and God mercifully saved me from that and graciously brought me from Canada and placed me in a Christian family,” said Campbell.

Campbell started the role as Director for Partners Worldwide Canada in February 2023, and he has enjoyed how, “Finally I get to do something that is all my passions – business networking, charity, poverty reduction, and more.”

The Canadian Director role is focused on expanding and broadening the name of Partners Worldwide in Canada. Campbell is focused on brand recognition and name recognition, along with connecting with donors and supporters to garner more partners for PW.

Campbell is also focused on recruiting people who can be “Business Affiliates” for PW. According to the PW website, “A Business Affiliate (BA) works with a local partner in our network, and the business owners they serve, to help them grow and expand the influence of their work.”

PW is different because “We don’t get a man a fish, we don’t just teach them to fish, but we actually open the market to help sell their fish,” Campbell said. They are focused on providing the space and place for people to grow their businesses.

Campbell shared that in Nicaragua, PW isn’t just working with one farmer, but they are working with hundreds of farmers who grow coffee and cocoa beans. The PW networks have connected farmers with Starbucks to sell their coffee. Campbell said, “We’re opening a world market to farmers who wouldn’t normally have access to someone like Starbucks.”

When this job opportunity came up, Campbell saw it as a sign of God’s grace and blessing. “I am really excited about seeing the impact that the work that I’m going to be doing here in Canada has globally. As we gain more supporters, and as we gain more BAs, I’m really excited to see the reduction of poverty globally, and see families and communities transform because of the people with whom I’m networking with in Canada,” said Campbell.

Campbell has experience in PR, sales, and professional networking. “My background in theatre and communications helps me really share great stories of impact that effectively communicate what we do and how we do it.”

David Boyd was the Canadian Director before Campbell. Boyd has moved on to run his own environmental engineering organization full-time.

Partners Worldwide is always looking for prayer warriors to support their work. Campbell said, “Obviously, prayer is vital for us to do anything.” He asked for prayer around effectiveness, spiritual favour, and prayer for the partners and networks they collaborate with.
