Hello CC reader,

Join us online on Monday, October 19 at 6:30 pm PT (7:30 MT, 8:30 CT, 9:30 pm ET) to take a closer look at articles in the October issue of Christian Courier. We're planning to start our conversation with Meghan Kort's article "Voting 'no' in Alberta" and several pieces about immigration and hospitality.
Christians often use the language of "hospitality" when we talk about welcoming newcomers. But Michael DeMoor says there are some downsides to that language. "It seems to make the question of welcoming the stranger a matter of generosity rather than rights." If Christians accept that the world belongs to God, then it's not up to us is it? "This land and its riches are not simply 'ours' to give or withhold at will," writes DeMoor.

Do you agree or see it differently?
Our monthly "Let's Talk About It" group is hosted by friends of CC, Neil and Virginia Lettinga, who are based in Victoria, B.C., and in partnership with BC1Life. Email the Lettingas at [email protected] to request the zoom link.
Hope to see you there,

Meghan Kort and Maaike VanderMeer
Co-editors

P.S. So sorry if you are not a night owl! We know these conversations fall at a late hour for Ontario and Maritime readers. The good news is that next month, there will only be a 2 hour time difference between Pacific and Eastern Time. Thanks to everyone who joins us, especially if that means delaying bedtime.
